I particularly find that France is way behind in their
attitude to disabled people.
Access etc is a big problem and when the UK brought in the
new EU laws about access etc France gave everyone 10 years
to do the same thing.
Disabled parking spaces are few and far between, HUGE
supermarkets have only 1 or 2 caddies to fit a wheelchair
(if they are not broken) some have none at all. Also they
still have only one or two disabled cash desks. If they
close a desk it is a disabled one. If they made all the
desks wide like England everyone would be happy. As they
don't they are abused.
Disabled people deserve to be treated the same wherever
they live. The right to the same levels of treatment (no
postcode lottery), the right to get the appropriate
treatment, I have CFS and it is not recognised amongst most
Doctors, psychiatrists, psychotherapists and
physiotherapists.
The benefits systems need an overhaul and as for carers'
allowances, well! People who reach the age of 60, or
pensionable age lose their allowances, they are saving
governments millions by caring for people. Many are in poor
health themselves and are looking after not only partners
but also adult children who have mental or physical
disabilities.
